retirement oz

What will happen when the baby - boomers retire?

How will the smaller workforce support the baby boomers when they use their numbers to vote themselves more benefits (putting even more strain on the workers)

Public Comments

  1. Baby boomers have been paying into their retirement accounts for many decades.
  2. They will have to delay retirement
  3. Boomers as a group haven't even come close to saving enough money to retire. As a result, they are going to be forced to stay in the workforce much longer and in larger numbers than their predecessors. They will have no choice but to do that.
  4. Socialized health care will solve the problem. If that was already here, I would have been dead 6 years ago. I would be too expensive. I would no longer draw SS. Two problems solved. Those who cost too much for health care will be expendable, including me, and all who come after me. As long as you can work and pay taxes, and don't cost too much, you're safe. Stay healthy and pay your taxes. See how brilliant OB is? Course, I did pay Medicare since it's inception. I still pay, plus additional insurance, near $4 K per year and rising. Not totally free.
  5. Lol, the real question is since the baby boomers were financially retarded and a large majority have no retirement plan even though they are in their late 50's and early 60's, who is going to employe them? They will have to work til they are near death, no retirement. They will then vote themselves in workplace equal oppertunity rules that say you cant not hire someone jsut because theyr 80 and work too slow or cant hear.
  6. yeah, you youngsters better start figuring out how you are going to support all us baby boomers.
