how much income can you make per year if you are collecting social security retirement benefits?

Public Comments

  1. As much as you want. It only changes how much of your income might be taxable.
  2. If started drawing benefits at your full retirement age, there is no limit. If you start drawing benefits early, it varies depending on how early you start.
  3. If you have reached full retirement age when you begin to collect or any year thereafter you can make as much as you wish. If you are younger than full retirement age during all of 2009, SSA will deduct $1 from your benefits for each $2 you earned above $14,160. If you reach full retirement age during 2009, SSA will deduct $1 from your benefits for each $3 you earn above $37,680 until the month you reach full retirement
