What are good haunted house and halloween party ideas?

we are throwing a party and need ideas. Please help me have a great party by giving me your ideas! Thanks!

1. You could have a pirate theme, dress up as pirates, decorate the house to look like a haunted pirate ship, complete with a kraken or a bad pirate captain. Give everything a nautical theme.
2. Get a whole lot of big cardboard boxes. Secure them together so they form a house with the box openings facing inward. Then challenge your guests to decorate or outfit the box interiors with scariest things they can think of. i.e. fake heads with blood, vampires, the dentist, a math test or a concept like rejection. Have lots of materials for them to work with and tell them to bring scary stuff with them. After the house is complete, turn off all the lights and let everyone look at the scary stuff with flashlights. Another option is to have guest complete a box interior then put the house together at the end. Or create your own version of this idea!
