do you know anyone who is retired? How did they retire and what funding?

My dad worked all his life in a mill. He has a pension from a 401k he gets every month.

1. Yes. My hubbies parents. They had monthly pensions, sold their house and bought a small trailer, social security, investments..they ended up having a nice 6 figure bank account that was largely untouched.
