How can I save money with out spending it until I am ready to buy something?

I recycle cans once a week. And I take the money and put it away.

1. Just use an old fashioned piggy bank with a lock. Then freeze the key into a big block of ice so it is not convenient to use it to get money out of the piggy bank.
2. The best way to save money without spending it would be to open a checking or savings account and not get a debit card. If you actually have to inconvenience yourself to get to your money, you are less likely to spend it. The bottom line is you need to practice self-control. Set a goal in mind about something that you want to purchase and every time that you think about spending money on something else, remind yourself of how bad you want to reach your goal.
