retirement oz

What is the process to retire in the Philippines if married for 18yrs to Philippine citizen?

I am a U.S. citizen My wife and I married here in the U.S. (legally of course), been married for 18yrs, she never gave up citizenship (Thank GOD!!). Was wondering what rules apply to me moving with her back to the Philippines permanently and retiring there. Thanks in advance for those who help.

  1. Perhaps you or your wife can request information at Consulate of Philippines regarding immigration process. http://www.philippineembassy-usa.org/Consulates.htm
  2. This site has useful info: http://www.philippineconsulate-sf.org/consular_visa.htm
  3. The Philippines recognizes dual citizenship. Any Filipino that gave up Philippine citizenship can get it back for $200, a couple pictures and one form. For her to apply for you under Section 13(A) of the Immigration and Naturalization Act your wife will have to prove that she can support you... much as you did when she immigrated to the USA. Additionally..... 13(A) The wife or the husband or the unmarried child under twenty-one years of age of a Philippine citizen, if accompanying or following to join such citizen; Checklist of Requirements for Non-Quota Immigrant by Marriage Under Section 13(a) 1. Duly notarized letter of application by the Filipino spouse; 2. General Application Form duly accomplished and notarized (BI Form No. MCL-07-01); 3. NSO authenticated copy of the Marriage Contract of alien and Filipino spouse or authenticated by the Philippine embassy/consulate nearest to or in the place where the marriage was solemnized; 5. Bureau of Immigration (BI) Clearance Certificate; and 6. Plain photocopy of passport of alien spouse showing dates of arrival and authorized stay. Checklist of Requirements for Temporary Resident’s Visa Under Section 13(a), in relation to Law Instruction No. 33 1. Duly notarized letter of application by petitioning Filipino spouse; 2. 4. You return here with your wife and get a balikbuyan visa for a one year free stay. You apply for the 13a spousal visa. Not a big deal. You need to realise a few things though. 1. You cannot own a gun. 2. You cannot get involved in any way with politics. 3. Your wife will own the house and any property here, non citizens cannot own property here period.
