retirement oz

Please help me with this question about Social Security Benefits, which is also call" Retirement Benefit".?

If I do not reach the age to collect Social Security Benefit which is 65 year, and I become disable at age 50. What kind of benefit would I be collecting? Would it be early Social Security Benefit or SSI? Please explain this to me. Thanks.

  1. No it would be Social Security Disability. SSDI SSI is a welfare program.
  2. If you become disabled, you would most likely receive SSDI, or perhaps SSI in some cases. It can be hard to prove disability. Keep good medical records and plan on it taking at least a year, maybe longer.
  3. SSI is a welfare program for people who are not eligible for Social Security (or not enough of it). There is no such thing as "early retirement" on Social Security, whether you are disabled or not. If you paid social Security taxes, you paid not just for retirement, but also for disability payments (Social Security Disability Insurance, or SSDI). As someone else mentioned, it is hard to qualify for SSDI, but it is available, and if you paid for it you are entitled to get it. There are law firms and legal aid organizations that will represent people who are entitled to SSDI, but have been denied benefits. I hope you are asking this question theoretically, and are not on your way to a serious disability. If you are becoming disabled, I wish you lots of blessings.
